#FreedomPass
Used my #FreedomPass for the first time on the tube today.
Made me feel both horribly old and weirdly happy and free at the same time 🤷‍♂️😁

It can be clawed back from better off through the tax system. Might be easier than means testing every household. But giving it to everyone is ridiculous. People I know all happy enough to be taxed on winter fuel, FreedomPass etc.

Here are some of the problems facing the #Freedompass scheme.
It would certainly affect my #Ramblers group, many who rely on it to go on walks in the countryside.

According to this there are proposals to limit the London Freedom Pass to buses only. That would be a disaster. Here's a petition opposing that. c.org/Cv9YTH6Qj8 #London #FreedomPass #Petition

FreedomPass, sponsored by Capital One
here’s a utopian idea for the future: North America Schengen Zone
it really does warm my heart every time we North Americans act like real neighbors to each other. seeing Mexico and Canada rush in to help California is beautiful. speaks to the best in us. don't forget that in the days to come.

Delighted to see @BrentLabour restate its commitment to the #FreedomPass. @BrentCouncil funds 47,177 Freedom Passes from parking revenue, enabling elderly and disabled residents to make 14 million journeys each year. helping people keep active, independent, and connected.

The silly arguments about the #Freedompass in #London sum up so much that is wrong with UK politics. Short-termist capitulation to the first hint of protest from Age UK. No sensible debate about why pensioners deserve free travel but generation rent does not. greenwichwire.co.uk/2026/06/19/f....
