Just some beautiful French polish on this cedar top. #classicalguitar #guitar #frenchpolish #kellyguitarco #luthier #wood #guitarmaker #guitarrepair
French polish is a traditional finish process that uses shellac, alcohol, and oil that is hand applied. It produces a very beautiful and extremely thin finish that is non toxic, repairable, and doesn’t restrict the guitar’s sound.

I fixed this severely damaged headstock. It always makes me feel uneasy to see a guitar with it’s head off.. #guitar #repair #shellac #Frenchpolish #guitarrepair #guitarshop #luthier #wood #woodshop #classicalguitar #kellyguitarco
This guitar was dropped hard and the V-joint failed and shattered. Just weird to see a headless classical guitar. At least all the pieces are here. Looks like it never happened. I was able to improve the V-joint a little with a better fit.

I call it a parlor guitar.

Applied 3rd layer of frech polish now. Might add another 3 or 4, then final polishing. Love the process, though such small surfaces are rather difficult to handle... #woodworking #boxmaking #shellac #Frenchpolish
