I can't tell if I've ASOIAF'd it or romantasy slop'd it. Both are equally dubious and have baffling implications for Fuchida Mitsuo

Now this is interesting… if we hadn’t killed Yamamoto I think it’s almost certain he would have been tried at the Tokyo Trials.
But Mitsuo Fuchida, who did a ton of the tactical planning, was not prosecuted.

Fuchida systematically lied about Japanese naval operations in any area foreign scholars couldn't easily check. He got his account published far ahead of any other histories by manipulating postwar censorship. His work is long discredited in Japan but continues to be cited by anglophone historians.

I think the key to making a faster-than-light device with a cool-sounding name is by having it named after the two physicists who invented it in-universe. I only have two examples, but they sound cool.

I still vividly remember sitting on the floor of my bedroom reading every page of Fuchida and Okumiya's account, along with the works of Walter Lord and Gordon Prange. The "fateful five minutes" section of Fuchida and Okumiya's account in particular left a huge impression on me.

There is some memoir/autobiographical work in English, though not a lot. Tread carefully and think critically, as always with these types of works. This is particularly true with Fuchida as he was one for tall tales and distortions.

#WWII Mitsuo Fuchida departed the city the day before the atomic bombing, thus escaping the attack rather narrowly. The day after the attack, 7 Aug 1945, he was sent to assess the damage done to Hiroshima; all members of this assessment party would die from radiation poisoning except for Fuchida.
