#Fujiwhara
HAFS-A has Nolo due south of Tokyo (and at this point west of Guam) by October 10th as it potentially does a rare triple Fujiwhara effect with a major typhoon to its east and a weak typhoon to the south. It could also keep going west, with a landfall in China as it reaches 1 month since formation.

Some hurricane models have Nolo (which has now passed the International Date Line and now a Typhoon) eventually moving south towards the Northern Mariana Islands by October 8th. Insane! May potentially be in the process of the Fujiwhara effect with another developing system to the east.

Question for the meteorologists, are Hanna and Fay doing the Fujiwhara dance? The tracks for each of them look like they are sort of moving counterclockwise to each other

Jeez are Odarys and Polo gonna do the Fujiwhara? 🌪️🌪️
September 25, 2026 at 10:29 PM
So, are we going to see the Fujiwhara Effect with Polo? It's getting a lot closer to Odalys.

Polo is at *180* mph sustained winds right now. Odalys is 130 mph.

...shit...poor Mexico.

Hurricane #Polo and #Odalys in the Eastern Pacific are about to interact together via the Fujiwhara effect. Further to the west in the Pacific, Tropical Storm #Nolo is strengthening into a hurricane, and it is forecasted to hit the Big Island of #Hawaii, bringing torrential rain to the island.

🌀 Odalys (90MPH Cat 1): Expected to remain weak hurricane and weak eventually early next week offshore. No real impact other than helping to steer Polo towards the Baja via a Fujiwhara interaction.

Yeah, shades of the biggest El Niño bathtub water eastern Pacific.

I'm more iterested in seeing if the combination of Odalys and Polo get close enough to each other to exhibit the Fujiwhara Effect.

I'll confess as a NW swell enjoyer, I am pretty done with hurricane season. HOWEVER. I love a good Fujiwhara, so I'm vibin' with it

omg i love the fujiwhara!! bring it to meeeee!

Urgent update to El Niño and surfer obsession with Fujiwhara effects.
September 23, 2026 at 7:06 PM
There's a lot going on in the Pacific Ocean right now. Hurricane Polo, a dangerous Category 5 storm fueled by a powerful El Niño, threatens W coast of Mexico; a smaller developing system forms near Hawaii; another tropical cyclone, Odalys, could be drawn into a rare Fujiwhara Effect with Polo.

like I said, reality warp fujiwhara effect
September 23, 2026 at 2:29 PM
I'm more interested if it's going to generate the Fujiwhara Effect with Odalys in a little over a week. THAT would be fascinating for an East Pacific hurricane.

Exciting times for everyone who intrusively thinks about the Fujiwhara effect every 36 hours anyway.

Is any body else interested in seeing if the Fujiwhara Effect develops off the Pacific Coast?

Fujiwhara Effect is a good band name
September 21, 2026 at 1:18 AM
There is considerable uncertainty re: Polo's ultimate trajectory, which will itself somewhat depend on how intense it becomes as well as a possible "Fujiwhara Effect" interaction w/*another* nearby hurricane next week. Indirect impacts to CA/SW US possible, but TBD, in 7+ days.

Fujiwhara effect but instead of hurricanes it's two masters of harnessing unreality

Article:
..the Fujiwhara effect..it can take several forms:

Two storms may rotate around a shared point.

A stronger storm can influence the movement of a weaker storm.

Storms with similar strength can also move around each other before separating or merging.
