Today, I joined thirteen other elected officials and over thirty community advocacy organizations in writing @trimet.org to ask that the agency prioritize full, seven-mile Business Access and Transit (BAT) Lanes on 82nd Avenue as part of their ongoing Transit Project. #pdx #portland

Oregon is looking to cut public transit to boost ODOT’s $3B/year road budget.
ODOT: $3B/yr → wants $1.8B more

In Bend and Central Oregon, each bus route operates with only one bus.
That means buses run 30-45 minutes at best because that’s how long it takes to drive the route.
And we might not be able to keep even that level of service.

On an absolutely packed 5R- Fulton right now on my way back home…sure feels like this bus is packed to the gills and it would be a CHOICE to reduce service further over actually passing policies to increase revenue and FUND @sfmta.com 👀

We know that transit is a lot safer than driving no matter how you slice it, and cities built to encourage transit trips see far less people dying on their streets. Making transit faster and more reliable has to be a part of the work to get Portland to zero traffic deaths.
A lot has changed in the six years since the Rose Lane Project first launched, but the political will for faster, more frequent buses remains.

First bus trip with the Brompton folding bike! It fits in the elevator so much better than the Bullitt! 😄 A work trip to Salem was enjoyable on the bike and bus rather than being stuck in a car. I had an hour each way to read, scroll and relax. #OneLessCar #BikesAreBetter #FundTheBus

We're lucky to have good bus service. But we don't have sidewalks or bike lanes in most of our neighborhood. Is there any talk of someday having bus service in your neighborhood?
