#FungiID
Since I just learned about slime molds, let's see if bluesky can help me ID the other one I saw yesterday! It looked like milky vomit yesterday when I first saw it, here's what it looks like today:

Lovely Fungiid corals, too

A little unsure on this species, only young forms of the fungi were present. Am I correct in thinking they are young Orange peels? #Fungi #fungiID #mycology #nature

#fungiID is really hard from pics. I found some stuff like this at work last year. Corvallis Oregon. And I had a heck of a Time identifying it correctly. All I had was All The Rain Promises
Off the dome trying to remember the name of that book, it's a good one to have on hand cuz it fits in a pocket

Funnily enough, these corals also sometimes display "swarming" or "aggregating" behavior. One paper, by Heintz and Laboute (2020) reported the first known monospecific (one species!) aggregation of these corals, which may be a behavior for sexual reproduction.

So I've talked before about hard corals that can move. These are solitary corals such as the Fungiid in this image below.

Well someone's recorded a video of one of these Fungiids moving, and they learned well from the ameboid ancestors:
