Next on the list is Potato Shadow, which I apparently got pretty far in years ago but didn't finish for some reason. Not sure why as it's very very good.

I feel there are some NES games that do look better on CRTs - the Batman and Final Fantasy games do, maybe the cutscenes in Die Hard or Ninja Gaiden - but most games need that aliasing of an LCD screen to look readable and good.

A bunch of it happens towards the end during its Peak Bullshit era, but if you’re curious for a good, short, self-contained story, you can check out Kakashi Gaiden (manga ch. 239-244, Shippuden ep. 119-120). It’s not very gory/explicit but it is quite sad.

Part 3 almost feels like it has some of that XCOM, long term campaign strategizing and threat management that no other FE game has really explored (Moving Gaiden map enemies being maybe the only exception). And I'm loving that element in part 3!

Technically it’s Like a Dragon, and they’ve finally embraced that name in the west after 7, but really I just call it Yakuza anyway because it’s faster to type, and it’s what the series has always been called in the west until Gaiden I guess.
