Pairing this assay with our cichlid GCaMP calcium imaging will let us watch neural activity while they perform the behavior—connecting sensory processing, motor control, and evolutionary change in a highly accessible vertebrate system. Looking forward to more #neuroethology in this model!

With everything that's going on, I needed this cool data 1 day before #flourescencefriday. It's my first time with #GCaMP imaging (green), and you can clearly see Aβ42 induced hyperexcitability at the same time that we also see BBB leakage (not shown)! #zebrafishrock

Completely agree! E.g: In this preprint, I co-expressed axon-GCaMP and inhibitory DREADD (H4) and showed that local CNO infusion attenuates terminal Ca2+ during singing. In my case, I wanted to validate the DREADD, but this can also be used the other way around (1/3)

To test for crosstalk, we compared activity in overlapping GCaMP and dTomato signals. Calcium events in the GCaMP channel showed no corresponding change in dTomato, confirming minimal crosstalk between channels 🎯
