Why is everyone so amazed that my cat and I look alike?
That's how genetics works.

The genetics of this family are truly frightening.

In the 1930s, it was Mendelian genetics that was up for debate.

In 2026 I’m tired of seeing climate change and the origins of Covid as political issues.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Whenever Trump starts his rambling rant about IQ, genetics, and his uncle the MIT professor, someone in the room should point out that he's a closer genetic relative of Eric and Don Jr than he is of an uncle.
Don Jr.: "They want to pack the Supreme Court, make Ohio a state, make D.C. a state."

One annoying thing about Italian genetics is your Batman origin story probably won’t begin until you’re in at least your late fifties

Peptides absolutely fall into the same category for me of "absolutely the fuck not"

When I TAed genetics as a grad student, we DNA sequenced herbal supplements. Every single one was some combo of mint, catnip, and maybe chamomile if you were lucky, regardless of label.
I listened to a podcast yesterday about a guy who purchased peptides on the internet.

Then he grew paranoid, separated from his wife whom he was convinced was conspiring against him, blew all of his money, became severely depressed, etc.

Turns out the “peptides” were anabolic steroids.

In the new PNAS paper, we integrate mathematical population genetics with computational learning theory, and use bacterial experimental evolution to test the theory.
