What GLP1s should teach people is that it was never about willpower and it isn't a moral issue. But people don't want to have that conversation.
Conservative and reactionary centrist media is trying to set up a narrative in which GLP-1s are some kind of existential threat to body positivity and fat activism.
It's bullshit. If you want to lose weight, go for it. But not everyone can or wants to — and they deserve equal treatment regardless.

ADHD medication falls foul of the same purity test as GLP1s. Namely that if people just “tried harder” to not be like that then they wouldn’t need the medication.

For the record, my thoughts on GLP1s are documented.
I hope you are against the loose skin mania, not against the GLP1s. I think the physical and psychological benefits of losing weight are very good and justify the risks of GLP1s for most people who start off obese.

Ozempic’s primary function is to make it easier to eat healthy, and by extension to exercise. Have seen these drugs work miracles for friends. Feel quite certain there are people in this smug ignoramus’s life who have benefited as well.

GLP1s are one of the greatest advances in medicine in my lifetime, if not all time. And there are still more benefits. They might be the first real treatment for people who struggle with alcohol! There’s never been a great treatment for that. Anyone criticizing these meds is just telling on themself

at some point people who think GLP1s are bad because they "harm people with eating disorders" are going to have to come to terms with the research that shows eating disorders are in fact linked to the gut-brain signals GLP1s treat & not purely psychological phenomena in a large number of cases
