Eleven years since you crossed the black sands. I wish I could say that the world is better than you left it (although it will always be better for having had you in it) but at least there is a new Young Sam to help carry on the Pratchett name and ethos. Love you always ❤️

When I read Terry Pratchett books as a kid I got half the jokes and didn’t realise the depth of the history, philosophy and politics in them.
I still come across things in “serious” books which I’d thought were just Pterry’s jokes.

I think it’s a hangover from the before times when people treated her like she’d done deep research and thinking in ripping off the Worst Witch by adding a boy protagonist and problematic racial stereotypes.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.
