Had an interesting week discussing the legacy of the 1926 General Strike. My take away is the urgent need to write down the part trades councils played in it. Trades councils are largely ignored by labour historians and so we're going to have to write these histories ourselves. #GeneralStrike100 💪

The #GeneralStrike ended #OnThisDay a century ago. 5 days later #PoliceOrders featured the Commissioner's "warmest thanks" to regular & Special Met officers, "voluntary workers" and the "Civil Constabulary Reserve", with a "Special Constabulary Reserve" continuing to exist. #GeneralStrike100 #OTD
