Super happy our DominL paper is online at Nature Communications! We used Neanderthal ancestry to tackle a long standing challenge in human genetics: identifying regions enriched for recessive deleterious mutations, and we found that they are up to 9% of the genome www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Each flowerpot snake is born from an unfertilized egg via "premeiotic endoreplication". She's a genetic clone of her mother. We call this 'parthenogenesis'.

And each cell in her body will have *3* copies of her genome, which is very unusual.

What we think happened: about 41 million years ago...

Convergent genomic evolution of human gut bacteria along an industrialization gradient
Analysis of globally diverse gut bacterial isolate genomes shows that host environments across the industrialization gradient shape genome remodeling and convergent selection, while industrialization is linked to increased HGT-driven gene acquisition and expanded genome size.

A spatiotemporal cancer cell trajectory underlies glioblastoma heterogeneity - Nature
A deep single-cell and spatial multi-omic atlas of human glioblastoma is generated, pairing transcriptomic, epigenomic and genomic profiling, and tracing glioblastoma tumour heterogeneity to a stereotyped and spatially patterned trajectory of cancer cells.
