I enjoyed introducing members of the Eastern Early Music Forum to some #nuntastic repertoire on Saturday! Followed Sunday by a smaller workshop on madrigals by Maddalena Casulana. Many miles driven, much music made. Next up Friday: Misogyny in Music policy day at Southampton Uni. #GirlsGotPolyphony

In the decorated letters on this page, you can see two names, Madalena (hard to read, in the top "S") and Clementia (in the lower "S." The two nuns, Maddalena Sini and Clemenzia Sostegni, joined San Matteo in Arcetri within weeks of each other, in 1541.
