I think #Burnham will devolve power away from #London & South East to English regions. He can also do the same within #Scotland & give #GlasgowCityRegion a Mayor, & more powers away from centralised #SNP. He has to defeat #Reform in #UK & #SNP in #Scotland. I wish him luck.

For those interested in #devolution, this is a good piece on Burnham’s devolution speech next week & what a Burnham-led govt’s policy could be on redistributing power & £ from Whitehall to English mayors. Will be interesting to see how Wales, Scotland & N Ireland fit into this devolution agenda

Strathclyde definitely needs its own mayoral authority. As a visitor I thought the whole area had a lot of potential, but seems held back by the same overcentalised system England has.
Seems funny how both Scotland and Wales wanted devolution, just to centralise power in Edinburgh and Cardiff.
