Flintheart Glomgold was originally ALWAYS South African! The whole reason he wasnt in the 87 version of Duck Tales was specifically to downplay Apartheid going on at the time and the way he made his money was literally exploiting and helming African Diamond mines.
He's even South African in the DUCKTALES reboot. I don't know if that was on purpose or not. ^__^;;;
But I DO love the gag that he's just AFFECTING being Scottish out of sheer pettiness, to be "RICHER AND MORE SCOTTISH THAN SCROOGE MCDUCK! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
