TWLID appear to be people who were given a proper burial but came into contact with deathroot instead of being taken up by the Erdtree's roots. Deathroot is the rhizome of the minor Erdtree Godwyn is propped up on. It looks like dead wood with Godwyn eyeballs on it.

of them. We're told that Godwyn was the first demigod to taste death, but we never hear of a single other one dying, so I think it's likely that the mausoleum guys are something which was inconvenient to Marika but still holy rather than her beloved children like Godwyn.

absolutely does explain what it does, and it is transactional. You give some of your vitality (temporarily) to Godwyn, and he gives you some of his peace. Also D was a prick and had it coming. Ironically his armor depicts a gold twin embracing a silver one, outwardly displaying the compassion

There's a third type of tendril coming out of Godwyn, it looks like seaweed or tentacles. I think this is just part of his body. Amusingly, there's a fourth type on the thing in Stormveil's basement. There we find ordinary thorns, which are associated with the Formless Mother and signify guilt.

The DLC reveals the Stormveil basement thing is a relic of Godwyn, as in, a severed part of his body that was placed there to be venerated. Like his main body, it has mutated. This was probably going to be an enemy called the Umibozu in the game files.

Honestly, some time on now, I don’t really care for the DLC. It has a lot of individual things I liked but on the whole it feels so on rails compared to the base game
And no seriously why wasn’t it Godwyn

Umibozu are giant sea monsters from Japanese folklore. The basement thing's model looks like it was originally set up to be an entity and they only later decided to make it a part of the scenery instead.

godwyn and messmer nation, we will get soooo well fed once ao3 is back that elden ring tag will get molested!
i've already finished 5 oneshots and 1 longfic.
i'm also writing 2 oneshots this week. and have plans to write at least 2 more this month depending on my job demands!

He knows he's descended from Godfrey and named after Godwyn the Golden. I think he eventually does understand why his father (Godrick) went absolutely /batshit/ insane after the shattering war. Except Godwin's a little more humble than his dad LMAO.

Elden Ring Tarot: Death (Ranni)
⬆️transformation, change, endings, transition
⬇️stagnation, decay
I felt she worked well for the death card since it represents change. In the game, her entire goal is to break the current cycle and break free from destiny

The true older spirituality acknowledged death as a fact of life, but marikas era (and by inheritance Godwyn) is a malformed version of a previous belief system which I believe centered around the sun

like you kinda see all his "projects" in the base game fail, he tries to do some elaborate eclipse shit to grant godwyn a final death, and fails. he tries to do something about malenia's illness, but fails. he keeps trying to genuinely help people, but it never works out, so (...)

You can’t convince me the adult in the statue in Haligtree is not Godwyn (uwu 🌸)
Thinking how Miquella is bound to repeat the same path as Marika by ditching love and compassion.
