Long pink drips run from his hands and feet, but he still looks pleased with his seat. **💡 Nerd Fact:** The Pink Panther began in the animated opening credits of the live-action film The Pink Panther (1963). His short _The Pink Phink_ later won the Oscar for Short Subject (Cartoon) in 1965, with the award going to producers David H. DePatie and Friz Freleng. That’s a pretty big statement considering Gondek’s council…

I think the true ideological margin is quite a bit wider given center center left splitting to Gondek's camp.

There are way to many of the right applauding this and saying this shows how it demonstrates Gondek’s dysfunctional leadership. That makes me sad (and angry) as all we’ve done is kept a high burden on non residential businesses, delayed spending, and pulled out of the reserve for needed spending

4/10 In #Calgary, the #UCP's #MAGA-adjacent operators and trolls succeeded in blocking Mayor #Gondek's re-election.

But their own favoured candidate, Sonya #Sharp of the #CommunitiesFirst party, failed.

#Calgarians instead elected #JeromyFarkas, an independent #conservative.

To be clear, i had no major issues with Mayor Gondeck. The mayor is but one vote on council. Council had become dysfunctional with two sparing camps. I gave my vote to @jeromyyyc.bsky.social with a hope to bring some semblance of collegiality to council. calgaryherald.com/news/jyoti-g...

Both candidates handily got about 20k votes each more than incumbent mayor @jyoti4mayor.bsky.social in 3rd place. Of note, Mayor Gondek's former campaign manager / chief of staff was behind the Calgary Party and mayoral candidate Thiessen, who received 40k votes in 5th place. 2/

11/ What WAS unusual was how/why that was possible. I've joked that this was an "anti-incumbent race without an incumbent" insofar as Gondek's campaign didn't seem to trying very hard to firm up a clear value proposition to an already skeptical electorate. Opponents didn't pound on Gondek's record -

The past mayor's chief of staff ran a campaign against her.

The Calgary Party wound up being a colossal failure. They only achieved one thing: skewering Gondek's chance for reelection.
