That description is a little misleading. Google Analytics is different from Google Ads. By itself, Analytics just gathers anonymized website traffic metrics for Nintendo’s own use.
That said, Analytics does use browser cookies, so this should clearly have been an opt-in deal.

Huh. Comparing ACOUP's Google Analytics to my WordPress Analytics and there's a massive discontinuity in how much traffic Google thinks I am getting, starting in Aug 2025, not reflected anywhere else.
GA user and event counts drop by ~2/3rds instantly, but Wordpress views/users doesn't change.

Me with an odd sudden spike of views, downloads and new followers, with the analytics just tell me the source is google.

anyway i just did some digging through google analytics and it turns out i do get a not insignificant amount of traffic from FB, presumably mostly from this page! like, not worth $150+/month that i'd need to spend to actually do a daily link, but still! this sucks ass!
