I really hope the R-Type Tactics remake comes out soon. Its been delayed a full two years now - lots of anxious Kickstarter backers that haven't heard anything since September last year.

the reaction to R-Type Dimensions III has been so overwhelming that one of the key devs on the original (who's posting anonymously, so be nice) re-emerged on SNS and revealed that they pitched their own remake to Irem (and Granzella, and Tozai) in ~2019 but were roundly rejected

Granzella announced their Formation Z several years back
icymi, Granzella recently went public with their payroll/cash flow issues (when labor prosecution forced their hand)—for as much work as this game might still need, they need to get it out ASAP, if at all, and same goes for R-Type Tactics 1+2

incidentally, Granzella just announced a stream for 19:00 tonight Japan time, wherein Kazuma Kujo will be "saying as much as he can say" about the upcoming release of R-Type Tactics 1+2, whatever that means https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgWWRsJSCCQ 🇯🇵

Also they've apparently got plans for DLC campaigns as well. If this is the last R-Type thing we see for a while (Granzella seem to have been struggling financially), it's going to be enough to chew on for MONTHS.

interestingly, the reason they approached Granzella and Tozai is that Irem told them they weren't interested in giving out any more third-party licenses, but that they might be able to get somewhere by going through one of the existing licensees…does this tie into Irem's conspicuous ghosting of ACA?

Doing my part. Here's hoping Granzella pulls through. 🫡
The game seems to have basically sold out at a ton of places in Japan, so hopefully a good sign? 👀
(I try to avoid key card games, but as I learned earlier, there's no upgrade for Switch 1 copies and the game looks kinda groady there, so.)

I cannot say enough good things about this book, even though I alternated among rage, sorrow, and hope as I read it.
