Great to see male #Green-veinedWhite mud puddling again on one of my newly dug & watered potato patches today .. that's 2nd year running & a little earlier this year. The male, according to the great Peter Eeles, pass on the nutrients to the female during mating❣️

Pleased to see #CommonCarderbee (male I think!) tucking into Pickerelweed flower, as it's the only non-native (from North America) aquatic in my pond, so it's good to know it's of some use & also happy to spot a revisit from #Green-veinedWhite again mud-puddling in the wetted soil.

This butterfly has some intersting mating habits, incl being coupled together for up to 7 hours while male passes anti-aphrodisiac to female to make her less attractive other males 🙄 #butterflies
