Looks great. People are often surprised to learn this goes for *modern* books too: wood only replaced rags in Europe 1850s-80s. I often think about a course I took with the art historian Tom Gretton who had us TASTE paper from different periods to show this, and whether that would be allowed today?!
Oh boy! "Most premodern books and documents were crafted from recycled clothing with Egypt providing a particularly well-documented example of how a textile boom created a media revolution." Livestreamed lectures by Prof. Marina Rustow. #MedievalSky #BookSky #GlobalMiddleAges
Did you know most pre-modern books were crafted from recycled clothing? 📜
Find out how the histories of texts and textiles are inseparable in this year's Sandars Lectures by Professor Marina Rustow.

I believe that I have the biggest Quince on the south side of the Welland Valley between Sutton Bassett and Gretton (though probably not a far south as Pipewell), but I’m not boasting about it!

Yeah, it was a ball.
Local record shop was run by the manager/agent of Joy Division and he put us onto many emerging talents and sold tickets to venues in Manchester. (See here - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Gre... )
Still have my original copy of "An Ideal for Living" only 1000 pressed. Worth £££'s.

Sometimes I think this entire company is resting on Kerry Russell’s tiny tiny shoulders. I think about that scene in “24 hr party people” where Gretton tells Tony Wilson that New Order wants to make a new record and Wilson is like “Oh thank God.”
it’s literally the only reason I’m keeping Netflix.
This isn’t insightful but almost every time that I open the Netflix app it’s an accident and nothing there *looks* like a show. All the thumbnails look like ads for a phone game.
Netflix is a really fascinating story of how for years a company listens to the market (create more/better shows;), listens to analysts (create advertising products! create targeting! create live streaming opps!); generates mounds of money for folks and then...

James Chappell, a servant at Kirby Hall from about 15. When lightning blew up Castle Cornet's gunpowder store in 1672, he carried Sir Christopher Hatton out of the rubble and found his three small daughters alive. He settled in Gretton and lived to about 82. #Wellingborough #Rushden
