Pub 2964, White Cross, Groeswen. Now this was brilliant! Rumours of an upstairs room with interesting memorabilia unproven. Like a simpleton, I ask for "the beer wiv the tiger on it". Oh dear. Fire struggled to kick in, nice smell of salt n vinegar woodsmoke . Classic.

The site of the disused station at Groeswen, near Nantgarw. Once a halt on the Alexandra Dock Newport Railway. The ramp down once led to the floor level platforms by a basic waiting shelter.

2/2 ... a large flock of vocal Redwings gathering in Beeches,Ravens,very good Jay numbers (including one doing that famous Buzzard impersonation), Starlings,lots of House Sparrows in the Groeswen lanes,plenty of Goldfinches etc. #birds #birdingWales 🐦

Highlights on Mynydd Meio on Christmas Day - A Woodcock flew through the village of Groeswen, a minimum of 7 Common Snipe up on top, Skylarks, lots of winter thrushes & Starlings, Bullfinches in the hedges etc. #birds 🐦
