Research company GUDEA tells Buzzfeed over 23% of posts about Chappell Roan and her alleged security guard were “very likely” bot accounts.

They looked at 100,030 posts generated by 54,334 unique users across seven platforms from March 20-22.

GUDEA reports that a cluster of bot accounts launched an online smear campaign against Taylor Swift, spreading conspiracy theories linking her to Donald Trump and Nazism.

While this kind of thing does happen, this data looks sketchy to me and was assembled by an AI slop PR company. gudea.ai I saw where the narrative started and it seemed like Hot Taking too hard about lightning bolts and Discourse™️ did what it does because there’s legit criticism tangled up in there

So idk let’s maybe stay a bit critical of this incredibly convenient narrative from a crisis management AI company that dismisses criticism of the white feminist billionaire, even if that narrative does kind of sort of align with bad things that we know do happen online

🏺📜 Being an archaeologist with access to a 3D printer means being able to create replicas of some of your favourite artefacts thanks to museums providing 3D models online - this one is a statue of the Sumerian ruler Gudea, which I would often visit at the Met in NYC.

Missing shoes also tell us a bit about footwear practices. Statues that depict people in worship, or statues destined for temples, show people without shoes.

Gudea, a Sumerian ruler from the ~2100s BCE, left behind numerous barefoot statues. Entering a temple may have meant you had to remove shoes

Remember the burst of posts in October claiming Taylor Swift was a Nazi/trade wife/selling SS merch? It was a bot farm.

AND: Researchers "discovered 'a significant user overlap between accounts pushing the Swift Nazi narrative & those active in a separate astroturf campaign attacking Blake Lively."

"What Swift’s defenders didn’t realize was that they were pushing back against a false narrative that had been seeded and amplified by a small network of inauthentic social accounts. Worse, they were helping to disseminate those bad-faith allegations by earnestly engaging with them."

I saw my boy Gudea at the Cleveland Museum of Art today! My favorite piece in the whole place. I’ve been captivated by the existence of these statues since college, and I’m always so happy to see one. Kind of like the joy of Ea-Nasir memes but Gudea actually was cool.
