⚠️ BREAKING:

WHO Warns as New Influenza A(H3N2) Subclade K Spreads Globally

The World Health Organization has warned of the spread of new influenza A(H3N2) subclade K across the European Union, East Asia, and parts of North America.

For those who have been led to believe that this year’s flu vaccine doesn’t work, this isn’t the case.

ER visits and hospital admissions are reduced by 72–75% in children and adolescents, and by 32–39% in adults.

Moreover, the most critical advantage of the mRNA tech is the speed at which it can be produced. Under a properly functioning regulatory apparatus, when we got surprised with H3N2 subclade K, we could have had an updated vaccine within ~2 months.

CDC flu data is back! I’m so happy I could cry. H3N2 is predominating, especially the new subclade K. This supports the emerging hypothesis that we will have a big flu season. More to come.

We have posted data providing real-time measurement of human neutralizing antibody landscape to seasonal influenza.

Data explain spread of subclades K (H3N2) & D.3.1.1 (H1N1), identify subclade K subvariants w reduced neutralization, & can inform choice of strains for next vaccine.

The "Super-K" flu strain (officially H3N2 subclade K) is a fast-spreading, highly mutated variant of the seasonal influenza A virus.

Australian Influenza update:

It became clear during November that a unusual second wave of influenza is underway in Australia, driven by the new "clade K" (H3N2 clade 2a.3a.1, subclade K).

Tasmania, New South Wales and South Australia are currently the hardest-hit.

There's a new, really important preprint looking at how well the current seasonal flu vaccines induce antibodies against the current H3N2 variants (subclade K), driving the massive surge in infections.

Let's look 🧵
Antibodies elicited by the 2025-2026 influenza vaccine in humans
A new H3N2 variant (named subclade K) possesses several key hemagglutinin substitutions and is circulating widely during the 2025-2026 influenza season. In this report, we completed experiments to det...

So hey new virus mutation just dropped. If you have a horrible sore throat, fever that won't go down with NSAIDs, bad headaches, PLUS all the other symptoms of the flu, but are testing negative for COVID and Flu A&B on home tests?

You have Subclade K/H3N2. You have the flu and it will suck.

🚨New Pre-Print🚨
Although H3N2 subclade K has multiple mutations in HA, neutralisation assays with pre-epidemic human sera show only moderate antigenic drift, and vaccines used in the 2024/2025 flu season induced cross-neutralising immunity

Since H3N2 subclade K differs from the H3N2 strain in the current influenza vaccine, there is concern the vaccine may be less effective against H3N2 this season.

2. Watching the current scrambling response of many healthcare systems to H3N2 K, combined with the firmly embedded political and ideological resistance to masking, I can assure you all that if H5N1 goes human to human with a high CFR, we're in deep trouble as a species.
