#HB328
🚨HEY MISSOURI 🚨

I need your help again! Today at 4:30 pm (or upon adjournment of afternoon session) the House General Laws Committee is prepared to hear 3 terrible gun bills - #HB328, #HB434 and #HB459. You can submit your online testimony opposing these bills until midnight tonight. #MoLeg 1/

MO @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers are now in the packed Senate committee room where lawmakers will be considering forcing public transit authorities to allow hidden, loaded guns on buses and trains, HB328. #moleg

Volunteers with Missouri @momsdemand.bsky.social are here to testify against all three of these extremist measures being heard. First up is HB328, a bill that would mean more guns in public spaces in our state–at a time when we currently have no foundational gun violence prevention laws in place.

#HB328 allows guns on public transit & in houses of worship. It would vastly expand the places where firearms are legally allowed in Missouri & increase public places where families would fear the threat of gun violence. This bill undermines public safety & will weaken MO’s already lax gun laws. 3/

Definitely did not bring enough Easter candy for all these school kids though, so send thoughts & prayers. When we’re done we'll head into yet another hearing to testify. #moleg Senate’s hearing HB328–a measure to force public transit to allow people to carry hidden, loaded guns on buses and trains.

Gun laws do not save lives, says the next speaker for HB328. He thinks criminals do not follow laws.

In reality, Missouri is in the bottom ranks of states for gun law strength. We lack all the foundational laws that have been proven to prevent gun crime and death. everytownresearch.org/rankings/

Response from my State Rep Pricey Harrison:

Thanks for writing. I am strongly opposed to HB328 and am glad the bill is dead.

Too many Virginians are forced to go without critical care because their insurance doesn’t cover it.

That’s why I’m proud to have co-patroned HB328 with Delegate Rip Sullivan - expanding coverage for fertility treatment, doula care, hearing aids, and other essential health services.

Last night's hearing started with HB328, to force hidden, loaded guns on public transit and into houses of worship and lower the age to obtain a CCW. A St. Louis volunteer testified for @momsdemand.bsky.social. Bottom line: HB328 will make communities less safe in a big range of ways. #moleg

In January, when #HB328 had a public hearing, 141 out of 149 public testimonies were in OPPOSITION of this bill. Those in opposition included City Utilities of Springfield, KC Transportation Authority, City of St. Louis, Missouri Public Transit Association, City of Kansas City…

Tell your legislators to VOTE YES on HB328, HB155, and HB400, and applaud ongoing efforts to make sure Utah grows water-wise.

On #moleg hearing on HB328, forcing guns on transit:

"'We cannot continue in our state to put more guns in more public spaces in the hands of more teenagers, who we know commit more gun homicides at over triple the rates of adults,' Kristin Bowen, a representative of @momsdemand.bsky.social said."
Senate to consider bill allowing firearms on public transit
The senate held a public hearing for Missouri House Bill 328 Tuesday, which would allow people with concealed carry permits to bring firearms onto public transit.

After hundreds of business owners swarmed the legislature, leaders pulled HB 328 from the floor rather than risk a vote. They’re punting to a "study group" until 2027 because actually legislating a complex industry is harder than just holding a press conference. #HB328 #NCPol

The "representatives of various public transportation authorities argued that their riders did not want more guns on public transportation." Police/public safety officials opposed #HB328, and dozens and dozens of Missourians submitted opposing testimony, including @momsdemand.bsky.social. #moleg

None of the senators asked questions about the @momsdemand.bsky.social testimony. But Chairman Fitzwater circled back to ask the sponsor about one point. He seized on the word "untrained" in my comments, asking Rep. Taylor to confirm that only CCW holders would be allowed to take advantage of HB328.

HB328 would make our communities LESS safe, allowing more guns on trains/buses by forcing public transportation entities to allow individuals to carry concealed firearms. This means more guns in public spaces–at a time when Missouri currently has no foundational gun violence prevention laws.

The volunteer for Moms Demand shared our written testimony, and she also spoke passionately, as someone who lives in an city where public transit is essential (while most members of the committee and #moleg don't live in areas where they rely on public transit). HB328 isn't what her community wants.

NC hemp = 16,000+ jobs, 2,197 storefronts & $4.4B for our state. House Bill 328 could regulate it out of existence. Tell your legislators: regulate, don't eliminate — act before this session ends. → cbhd.news #HB328 #NCHemp #FreedomOfChoice
