w/ increased awareness of ehlers danlos has come a lot of HCPs that slam patients for “making it [our] whole personality” but tbf if you could fit your feet behind your head but also had to literally get ripped a new hole bc ur stomach stopped working wouldn’t u make it ur whole personality too?

🧬 Substance use rarely exists in isolation.

Trauma, homelessness, mental ill-health, neurodivergence, exploitation, poverty and adverse life experiences can all sit alongside drug or alcohol use.

Forensic HCPs should look beyond the presenting substance use and see the whole person.

This is horrifying.

We know these companies scrape social media, including Reddit. Oftentimes, people with serious medical conditions will vent among ourselves about the way HCPs treat us.

Because we can pick up on nuance, we know these companies scrape difference between a vent and antiscience.
Gut punch of a story about an Amazon engineer who trusted ChatGPT-4o to manage and reduce her seizure med dosages. You'd hope someone who made it into a top engineering position would have known the limits of AI circa May 2024

💙 Men can experience domestic abuse and sexual violence too.

Stigma, shame and fear of not being believed can make disclosure difficult.

Forensic HCPs can help by creating a safe space, listening without judgement and taking every disclosure seriously.

I agree that highly skilled, high-demand HCPs who believe doing these charitable works are more impactful than buying themselves another cabin/ranch/yacht do INDEED deserve all most high praise.

Most Drs, nurses and HCPs all cling to the psychosomatic diagnosis wherever possible. Unless the Royal Colleges step in and radically change their attitude, the SMC has different personnel and there is a loud, publicised collective mea culpa from certain powerful people. No change for #ME patients.

unless you need an expensive drug or more expansive care…then you’re screwed. It’s better than nothing, but they also have constant doctor and nurse shortages and HCPs wouldn’t be able to pay school loans on those wages from gov’t insurance.
