Another thing that made the PURCHASED care more expensive were the third party administrative contracts needed to pay the private providers. Contracts with companies like HealthNet, TriWest, and United Healthcare added a layer of cost you don't see with DIRECT care. 8/

Don't sign up with HealthNet, they don't have a fax machine and will spend months telling your doctor they have no paperwork without mentioning this.
They also don't accept emails.

insurance keeps whistling and pretending they didnt see my doc's mri order, only to turn around and deny it claiming they never spoke to my doc, when they didnt even have the right number, and that they cant be faxed an appeal

As a former hospital biller and collector, BC/BS, Cigna, UNH, Aetna, Healthnet, Pacific Care/Secure Horizons (now UNH). All played these games and still do.
Our government allows these insurance companies to not play fair, too much lobby money it needs to stop and it needs to change.
