Without knowing the specifics of this case… someone developing colon cancer in their mid-twenties is a red flag for a genetic-basis like Lynch syndrome or other form of Hereditary non-polyposis colon cancer (HNPCC). Unfortunately, cost prohibits population screening under 40 for colon cancer.

I inherited a genetic propensity for certain cancers (HNPCC/Lynch Syndrome) from my father who died at 36 from pancreatic, and lost his older brother at 29 to stomach cancer.
So far, I've had Ovarian, Uterine, Colorectal, and Skin (two kinds), and this new one is "Digestive System Related."

The transfer of care out of the hospital that discriminated against me is nearly complete. Saw the new PCP today. Already saw the new cardiologist. Oncology is transferred. Everything else--neurosurgery, neurology, genetics, HNPCC, orthopedics, immunology etc--already elsewhere. Can't transfer PT.
