Yes! We make it at home and use it for everything. Way cheaper than buying it retail by the bottle. Made a little site for sharing findings and collecting lit reviews. Here’s the subpage on DIY HOCl:

Non-Toxic Disinfection
HOCl is produced by white blood cells within the bodies of all mammals (humans included). At the right concentrations (see below), it’s really good at killing harmful viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Which means that regular disinfecting with HOCl can help prevent the spread of harmful bugs and viruses to keep communities healthier.

An electrolysis machine that is marketed for the specific purpose of making HOCL that I got for about $45, I figured my fellow skincare nerds should hear about this

HOCl is probably going to be my germ killer of choice going forward. Heard good things about it. Looked into it. Checks out.

I love bluesky for always being down for the HOCL chat. And you can purify drinking water safely with it!

Masks. N95 or greater. No blue masks. 3M. Flo Mask.

HEPA purifiers if you live in an apartment complex.

HOCL cleaner. It’s a weak bleach solution that’s safe on surfaces and skin.

I clean my veggies & fruits with hypochlorous acid (HOCl) -
"HOCl has proven effective in eradicating viruses & pathogens, including Norovirus, Hepatitis A, Salmonella, and Listeria."

Buy a kit and make it at home. Lasts two weeks, then you make more - cheaper than the shelf stable version.

So HOCl has 20+ years of compelling data but no large-scale trials

Guidelines can’t cite trials that were never funded

BTW, I’ve learned much from you. Most recently I took your guidance on HOCl & plant antivirals & managed to avoid infection. So thank you!

One more science water use.

Hypochlorus acid, HOCl.

Beginning of season water system disinfection.

Previously used bleach which leaves a nasty taste even after flushing.

Make 4 gallons of 100 ppm pH 6 HOCl dilute it 2:1.

At 10 ppm it achieves nearly instant disinfection.

“Viruses published an article earlier this fall…[that] offers up HOCl steam as a promising respiratory therapy to reduce viral load.” #COVID
How do you protect yourself from viruses in a world that has largely given up? New work has confirmed the use of HOCl as a respiratory therapy and intervention. Here's some other things to do, along with N95 masks and air purifiers.

oh and shoutout to the little countertop HOCL maker for getting me through a huge disinfecting project without ruining my lungs for a week like regular bleach does, robot of the decade tbh

If it becomes widespread you will still need to wash fresh produce with HOCL unless you’re cooking the shit out of it bc it transmits via fomite, including dust from livestock onto fields of vegetables

Should an H5N1 pandemic break out, Covid-safe folks are already way ahead of the pack. Stock up on N95s, and consider getting a half-face respirator, goggles, and possibly an HOCl generator.
I don't know if H5N1 going widespread human to human is guaranteed to happen.
It might. It might not.

But the best time to buy yourself some quality respirators is always now.

I dunno if it'll help anybody but I got this cheap HOCL spray to try and sort out some problems I was having getting my larger piercings to heal and it has turned out to be *crazy* useful stuff, both for healing the nipple rings that took forever, and for cleaning and lubricating the jewelry.

hypothetically I'd spray down the cutting board with HoCL and wash my hands before handling the food after petting her lol.

Cysteine uptake is a critical component of S. aureus defense against hypochlorous acid (HOCl) produced by innate immune cells. It functions as a sink for HOCl to prevent depletion of both low-molecular-weight thiols & protein thiols in S. aureus. #mSphere: asm.social/34k
