Yep. Total BS. Here are actual Hotwheels we bought my daughter over the past few years. Notice the country they were made in affects the quality, not the year.

Looking forward to having a go on these. The first 2 hotwheels figures were excellent, so hoping for more of the same here.

On the highway, it drove like a sheet metal box kite. Incredibly unsafe.
But tooling around town or taking it camping was a hoot and a half.
The best was driving past a group of young boys and seeing their eyes pop and jaws drop because it was a HotWheels car come to life.

Grabbing a handful of my toddlers random cars, some of which are hotwheels now they are cheap at supermarket checkouts, and yeah, plenty of detail on the bottom of all of them...

The thing that got me about this post wasn’t the branding it was that hotwheels 100% had metal under all the older models which would have included 1997,
I think they still do for special models but more of them have plastic now to cut costs (but i havn't bought a hotwheels in decades so ? )

These are my actual hotwheels. The ones on the left I've had for years and the one on the bottom right I just purchased.
Yes sure they've lost detail but they never had that much detail to begin with.
They aren't premium collectors toy cars. And they shouldn't have to be

A five pack of hotwheels in december 2007, which included a forklift, started my older on a year long forklift loving streak
His dad used to take him to home deport to watch the fork lifts in action 🤣
He is tongue tied and had speech issues and called them ‘k ‘ft’s

No, it's what I said. You're just bitter and probably peaked in life in 1992.
PS: go look it up! These Hotwheel underside posts are utter bollocks. The only Hotwheels cars with flat undersides..... are cars that actually have flat undersides! 🤦♂️ As the thread OP pointed out; where's the logo? 🤔
