Does HSRA not have a government affairs staff..?

And if that isn't bad enough their irrigation districts are always fucking things up for California HSRA
The problem is that farmers and ranchers have an extremely lucrative, free resource from the government (basically free water to irrigate low-value and feed crops) and there is precisely zero political will to take that away from them and so instead we're going to do an ecological disaster.

That whole era of HSRA revolutionaries was filled with badassery.

And if plaintiffs win the appointments clause argument as applied to the USPSTF, then future plaintiffs will make the argument about ACIP (immunization prevention) and HSRA (contraception, prenatal care, etc.)

it's the 1st domino that takes down a lot of preventive care. And in this admin? Yikes.

hsra: works with city of shafter to select the best route
shafter: backstabs hsra and lets a developer build SINGLE FAMILY HOUSES

ian choudri (cahsr ceo) should have dictatorial powers imo

CAVEAT:

SCOTUS didn't take up the RFRA claim tghat providing certain types of preventive care violates plaintiffs' religion).

Also SCOTUS is only hearing arguments about whether the USPSTF has the authority to make prev hlth recommendations and not ACIP or HSRA.

I bored myself just typing that.

Ayer después de 4 años en una lista de espera por una operación de la vesícula me operaron. El trato fue muy amable por parte de la gente de corta estancia en el HSRA. Ahora a recuperarme 🙌🏻

Pretty sure this is what the HSRA asked for, their rail EIRs are mostly sorted fwiu. Also the new manager at HSRA is more willing to make legislative asks like this, they were kinda shy before. So maybe more coming.

ACLU & Lambda Legal just asked a court to order CMS to rescind this memo, along with others at SAMHSA & HSRA.

The memos were issued over the last two days despite a federal court telling Trump on March 4 he can't withhold federal funding from hospitals that provide trans youth healthcare.
CMS just issued a "quality & safety special alert memo" to hospitals, attacking gender-affirming care for trans kids: www.cms.gov/files/docume...

Among its citations? Multiple far-right fringe medical groups, including the American College of Pediatricians www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
A massive leak spotlights the extremism of an anti-trans medical group
How the tiny American College of Pediatricians helped turn fringe beliefs into government policy.

It's on legislators (or outside advocacy groups) to draft legislation. HSRA can say they are in need of help and specific help but it's not on them to draft bill text, and even then they can't introduce legislation.

If folks want to help with legislation writing, email info@movecalifornia.org

I'd rather Caltrans work for the HSRA I guess, like a insourcing thing

Yeah, and definitely for the next project. If you break down what HSR needs now it's just reliable funding. HSRA faces lot of escalating costs from all the penny pinching.

So we should be asking the HSRA why their design of the Newcastle-Sydney HSR seems to be limiting tunnel speeds to 200km/h?

Design Standards: If CA HSRA could preempt local design standards, they could focus money and energy on building high speed rail, not bloated rural highways. There's no need for every municipality to reeinvent the wheel bsky.app/profile/cale...
Why is CA HSR building gold-plated grade separations with rail money? Because they defer to local design standards which require 65 mph capability for a road connecting farms.
We need statewide standards for mega-projects like CAHSR that deemphasize cars. calelectricrail.org/transit-capi...

It's going to become easier for Chicagoans to access Quad Cities-style pizza from the source. 🚆 🍕 😋

The UK Government has just published its Health Security Risk Assessment (HSRA) - this is a document to aid all sorts of organisations plan for threats, as it says not intended for individuals, but it should probably be better known about.

Wherever nonviolent movements have succeeded it has been as an alternative to more militant movements operating at the same time. This was as true of MLK’s SCLC vs various weather underground stuff as it was Ghandi’s INC vs the HSRA et al.
December 6, 2024 at 5:22 AM
That makes sense from an HSRA perspective, but I can’t escape the feeling a Caltrain Electrification-style project from Burbank to Anaheim would be a slam dunk that seals the project’s future.

If you come at California HSRA, you come at me

Boarded up shops left to rot are a blight on our high streets across the district.

That's why, tomorrow, we're bringing a motion to council to make sure that our council finally puts to use the HSRA powers they have to do something about it.
