#hackoftheday With the latest betas of OpenSCAD and BambuStudio it *is* possible to produce a coloured design in OpenSCAD, and import that file into BambuStudio in one operation, without needing to futz about with separate models per colour!

Screenshot of the Export-to-3MF dialog in OpenSCAD (a recent nightly build). The colors in my OpenSCAD design are going to be encoded as colours (not materials!). in the output file. Screenshot of the import-3mf-colours dialog in Bambu Studio v2 beta (version 1 cannot process the colours and just discards them, if you have v1, then you must do change-filament-at-layer instead). BS v2 lets you map the colours from your openscad 3mf to available colours in your BS filament set.

#hackoftheday snag dead printers from e-waste or #festivalofdiscardia and recover the stainless steel rollers. The machined shafts and rubber rollers are great for all kinds of tool handles.
The chuck key from a drill press has had its handle replaced by a sliding bar held in place by two rubber rollers.

Screenshot of the output of a script that produces a coloured listing of USB devices, and then shows the time and specifics of the most recent change to the USB bus. The apple internal USB bus is filtered out. It'll probably work on Linux too.

#tooloftheday or is it #hackoftheday. You have a brradboarded mashup and you want to add a logic probe or injector bit it’s already really skeevy. Make up some du-pont replicator adaptors which give you extra pins to attach grounds and probes.
A 2.5mm pitch stacking header has had one of its long pins bent across the others and soldered to them, meaning that there are four sockets and three pins which are now all electrically connected. Inserted on the end of a “duPont” jumper wire, you now have one signal multiplied for attaching test gear.

#hackoftheday I bet you have at least one cordless power tool with a dead battery. Cut it off at the pelvis, wire it for sound, and make a bench tool. Here an ancient cordless angle grinder becomes a diamond drill-bit sharpener.
An old power tool is bolted to the T-slots in my workbench. A drill sharpening jig, you know, that one you bought at a garage sale and never learned to use, is also mounted to t-track. Together, they fight crime!

A small square circuit board with two holes for power in and out, but no ground connection nearby. This 2x2cm square circuit board has a two-pin screw terminal that takes the input voltage and output voltage, and measures the current. If I want to measure voltage also, I need to connect ground. It's a pity that there wasn't provision made for a three pin screw terminal, there's plenty of room. I've placed a three pin screw terminal over the existing two holes and scrobbled it around to scratch the position of third hole. Since the whole back of this 2x2cm square board is the ground plane, I can scrape away the protective covering to access a ground connection.
