Always nice to wake up to a new bite mark paper in my inbox, AND it's a large-scale survey to get at patterns of behavior. 🧪

Day 4 of #dinovember! This is Brachylophosaurus, the hadrosaurid from late Cretaceous North America! It's claim to fame was it was a "mummy" fossil; having a bunch of skin impressions preserved along with the skeleton. #Dinovember2026 #CapsDinos #Paleoart

There are these repeated injuries in hadrosaur tails. There were a few theories on this, but one of them stands out. No easy way to say this: some dinosaurs were really into rough sex. 🧪

Today's dino is Gongshuilong, the Hadrosaurid dinosaur from the late Cretaceous in what is now China. Their unique feature is the elongated neural spines along it's tail that gave it a bit of a sail-like structure. #CapsDinos #Paleoart #Dinosaur

- 2 tons in mass! This makes it slightly smaller than the closely related Daspletosaurus, but still plenty big enough that the largest local herbivores, the hadrosaurid Probrachylophosaurus and the ceratopsid Xenoceratops, would be wise to keep their guard up around it! (2/2)

PUMPED to be giving the tooth anatomy lecture today for the course I'm TAing! 🦷✨ hope these students are ready for some wild teeth in vert evolution, inc Helicoprion (ancient shark w tooth whorl!), Dorudon (basilosaurid whale w cuspy postcanines), and Edmontosaurus (hadrosaurid w dental battery)!

Hadrosaurus foulkii, the first dinosaur discovered in North America and one whose holotype is housed at the currently-threatened Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. If the academy is shut down, this and thousands of other irreplaceable specimens will likely be lost. #SavetheAcademy #sciart

First, a bit of context on how animals & groups are given scientific names, and why certain suffixes can stick around when it comes to give names to new species
