CONCLUSIONS: This study provides the first molecular evidence of H. shimoga and H. bispinosa infesting captive Samber deer, with detection of Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Theileria co-infection in Malaysia and highlights the occurrence of tick-associated pathogens in these specimens in Malaysia.

Aren't you thrilled? Scientists in China have identified a novel tick-borne virus, named the Asian longhorned tick nairovirus (ALTNV), that causes an influenza-like illness characterized by fever, fatigue, gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, and abnormal lab findings.

wake up honey, new tick borne zoonosis just dropped.

(parenthetically it's funny that a bunch of tick borne illnesses, whether bacteria or virus, all cause thrombocytopenia and mild LFT abnormalities)

"However, more than 30% of patients with clinically diagnosed [severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome] test negative for [Dabie bandavirus] … which suggests that other pathogens may be involved."

I guess the clue was in the word "syndrome"...
