If not maybe leave clot alone…

After class
a student asked me why
I was still wearing a mask,
and though I wanted to mention
the study which found
“COVID-19 may enduringly
impact cognitive performance
and brain haemodynamics
in undergraduate students,”
instead I just said:
“because I care about my students.”

🚨 COVID-19 may Enduringly Impact Cognitive Performance and Brain Haemodynamics in Undergraduate Students 🚨

Not a cold.
Not no big deal.
Not *just* a threat to the “vulnerable.”

This is brain damage.

There is great concern
about what AI is doing
to undergraduates’ minds,
but a new study has found
“Covid-19 may Enduringly Impact
Cognitive Performance
and Brain Haemodynamics
in Undergraduate Students,”
which makes it clear
that AI is not the only threat
to undergraduates’ minds

We cannot stay silent about this as to do so is to be complicit in the illogical & amoral approach of facilitating brain damage as part of the learning experience.

37% of students showed objective evidence of cognitive impairment after infection.

In addition to increased mental health needs.

Yet we have zero plans to support those who are struggling. In fact, we’ve stripped away vital supports.
