Last night we went to see the Handlebards (who cycle with all their gear between performances) perform Much Ado About Nothing at Northumberlandia. Very interesting active on stage doubling, and Hero was played by a mop in dress.

Much Ado About Nothing by the cycling Shakespeare theatre company, Handlebards, at Severndroog Castle. We saw them perform Richard III at Chelsea Physic Garden in 2016. This is good fun. Catch them on their tour!

TIL there’s a UK touring cyclists Shakespeare theater company called “The Handlebards”

Not an intersection of my interests I’d previously considered; my life is enriched

The Handlebards are returning to Northumberlandia this August for another Shakespeare production!

The troupe will be performing a fantastically funny production of As You Like It - under the watchful eye of the Lady of the North.

The Tempest at Shakespeare North Playhouse is genuinely brilliant. Everyone should go and see it.

Chapeau to The HandleBards.

A hurly-burly with the Handlebards

More spells to bring rain: Shakespeare in the park.

The opening lines from the witches were a bit on the nose.

It let up after a bit. Very enjoyable if damp performance.

Highly recommend The Handlebards if they are playing a park near you

Went to see the HandleBards perform As You Like It tonight. Very good despite everyone’s phones going off when the Government Alert sounded 🙄

"But how am I going to move my entire production of As You Like It including the cast, the props and the stage on a bicycle?"

(Well, ok, you might need several bicycles.)

🧵A fantastic performance of Macbeth last night by ‘The Handlebards’.

Outdoors and it rained
Those with the right gear
For a Scottish summer
Really didn’t care

The three kings Duncan, Macbeth & Malcolm
Three talented, clever ladies playing all parts
‘Cept the ghost who was plucked from the audience

I saw a Handlebards production of Macbeth at a castle in Edinburgh many years ago which was great but before it started someone in the front row choked on a humbug and Macbeth leapt down from the stage to save her and then everyone in the audience was a bit in love with Macbeth.

Great performance of Much Ado About Nothing in Oxleas Woods #SeverndroogCastle last night by the #HandleBards, actors who cycle between venues, props & all. Skilful use of comedy, minimal props and staging 🎭

Oh man. The Handlebards are doing a 3-person Macbeth this summer, and performing at Charterhouse the day before I am on leave in July.

Severely tempted, but it's not a thing you go to alone. Does anyone fancy it?

If you live in Britain and The Handlebards are coming to your town I *highly* recommend you go see them.

This year’s production is Much Ado About Nothing.
