Make sure they test your free T3, not just T4 & TSH. Lots of good info on Thyroid UK’s forum on Healthunlocked. Also get B12 tested as deficiency causes fatigue.
Even with thyroid hormones, B12 & coffee I’m useless after lunchtime. Any thinking has to be done well before midday.

It’s very treatable so that’s a great outcome (even if it doesn’t feel that way just yet) - I found HealthUnlocked a useful resource once you get done with the arrhythmia clinic and have your meds etc sorted.

ARGGGGH

I'm seriously fed up with people defending using AI summaries for medical purposes. Medical support groups have always had their flaws (perimenopause groups will diagnose everything from an active covid infection to sleep apnoea as perimenopause and advise HRT), but it's getting even worse.

The late Dr John EM Midgley was known as diogenes on a thyroid forum - immensely knowledgeable and helpful.

Difficult to see how to mark his passing. This assembles links to many papers.

Of course, his colleagues are also invaluable.

Despite all the hype about UX, forum UX's are often poor. I participate in HealthUnlocked - in part because there's a good comment volume and velocity. However, the UX is poor and as I commented recently there, the search and participation really only supports "skimming the tips of the waves".

I had started rowing, came across the HU running community and C25k at healthunlocked.com/couchto5k and thought if others like me could do it, I might just be able to do this, too. 5 years later, ive run and rowed 10ks and 5ks and have a lot of fun doing both regularly!
