A new approach to women’s heart health may offer them a lifetime of opportunities.

What is insulin? | ইনসুলিন কী?English: Insulin is a hormone that helps sugar move from the blood into the body's cells to provide energy. Step 2: What is insulin resistance? | ইনসুলিন রেজিস্ট্যান্স কী?English: The body's cells do not respond properly to insulin. The pancreas tries to solve this problem by producing more insulin. Step 3: How can it cause diabetes? | কীভাবে ডায়াবেটিস হতে পারে?English:Insulin resistance → More insulin needed → Blood sugar may rise → Prediabetes → Type 2 diabetes. Step 4: Why are Indians at higher risk? - Belly fat — পেটের চর্বি: Excess abdominal fat can increase risk. - Less muscle — পেশি কম: Lower muscle mass can affect glucose use. - Family history — পারিবারিক ইতিহাস: Diabetes in close relatives can increase risk. Sitting too long and walking less can contribute. - Unhealthy diet — অস্বাস্থ্যকর খাদ্যাভ্যাস: Excess calories and sugary foods can increase risk. Step 5: How can you prevent it? Aim for 30 minutes on most days. Do suitable strength exercises. Include vegetables, dal, eggs or fish, and control rice and roti portions. - Reduce sugar — চিনি কমান। Limit sugary drinks and excess sweets. If overweight, aim for gradual, sustainable weight loss. - Sleep well — পর্যাপ্ত ঘুমান। Most adults need 7–9 hours. Ask your healthcare professional whether you need an HbA1c or fasting glucose test. Final Summary:  | শেষ কথাEnglish: Insulin resistance increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, but healthy lifestyle habits can help reduce that risk. Walk regularly, eat balanced meals, maintain a healthy weight and check your blood sugar when needed.

  understanding. of the concept of  OGTT vs FBS vs RBS vs HbA1c Simple Step-by-Step Guide for the Common Man: STEP 1 — FBS: Fasting Blood Sugar: FBS means checking your blood sugar after fasting.Usually, you do not eat for about 8 hours before the test.It answers:“How much sugar is in my blood when I have not eaten?”BengaliFBS ”Main ideaFBS = Fasting-এর সময় sugar কত। STEP 2 — RBS: Random Blood Sugar : RBS checks your blood sugar at any time of the day.You do not have to fast.You can test after eating or before eating.It answers:“What is my blood sugar level right now?”BengaliRBS STEP 3 — HbA1c: HbA1c is different from FBS and RBS.It gives an idea about your average blood sugar exposure over roughly the last 2–3 months.You normally do not need to fast for HbA1c.It answers:“What has my blood sugar been like over the last few months?”BengaliHbA1c একটু আলাদা। STEP 4 — OGTTEnglishOGTT means:Oral Glucose Tolerance TestThis test checks how your body handles a large amount of glucose.Step-by-step1. You fast first. 2. Your fasting blood sugar is checked. 3. You drink a glucose solution. 4. Blood sugar is checked again. STEP 5 — চারটি Test খুব সহজে মনে রাখুনFBSEnglish: Sugar after fasting. RBSEnglish: Sugar at any random time. HbA1cEnglish: Sugar picture over the last few months. OGTTEnglish: How the body handles glucose after a glucose drink. STEP 6 — Important NumbersFBS / Fasting Plasma GlucoseBelow 100 mg/dL → Normal range100–125 mg/dL → Prediabetes range126 mg/dL or above → Diabetes range HbA1cBelow 5.7% → Normal range5.7–6.4% → Prediabetes range6.5% or above → Diabetes range OGTT — 2-hour valueBelow 140 mg/dL → Normal range140–199 mg/dL → Prediabetes range200 mg/dL or above → Diabetes range RBSA random plasma glucose of 200 mg/dL or above, together with classic symptoms of high blood sugar, can meet the diagnostic criteria for diabetes. STEP 7 — Which Test Is Better?EnglishThere is no single best test for everyone.Each test answers a different question. STEP 8 — When Is FBS Useful?EnglishFBS is useful when you want to know your fasting blood sugar.It is simple and commonly available. RememberFBS = Fasting snapshot STEP 9 — When Is HbA1c Useful?EnglishHbA1c is useful when you want to understand your longer-term blood sugar picture.It also has the advantage that fasting is generally not required. RememberHbA1c = Long-term picture STEP 10 — When Is OGTT Useful?EnglishOGTT can be useful when doctors want to know how well your body handles glucose after a glucose load.It can detect some cases of abnormal glucose tolerance that may not be obvious from fasting glucose alone. RememberOGTT = Glucose-handling test STEP 11 — When Is RBS Useful?EnglishRBS is useful when you need to know your blood sugar right now, especially when someone has symptoms of high blood sugar. RememberRBS = Current sugar STEP 12 — The Easiest Way to RememberImagine your blood sugar is a student.FBS asks:“How are you doing before breakfast?” RBS asks:“How are you doing right now?” HbA1c asks:“How have you been doing over the last few months?” OGTT asks:“What happens when I give you a glucose load?” 🎙️ OGTT — Oral Glucose Tolerance TestEL15 • Common-Man Guide • Step-by-Step • English + Bengali🎧 STEP 1 — What is OGTT?English: OGTT means Oral Glucose Tolerance Test.It checks how your body handles a measured amount of glucose. সহজভাবে:Glucose খাওয়ানো → অপেক্ষা → আবার Blood Sugar মাপা 🪜 STEP 2 — Why is OGTT done?English: OGTT can help identify: - Normal glucose handling - Prediabetes - Diabetes It can sometimes detect abnormal glucose handling that may not be obvious from a fasting test alone. 🪜 STEP 3 — Do you need fasting?English: For the standard 75-g OGTT, you normally need an overnight fast of at least 8 hours.During fasting, no calories should be consumed. 🪜 STEP 4 — What happens first?English:The test usually starts with a fasting blood sample.This gives the doctor your starting blood glucose level. 🪜 STEP 5 — The glucose drinkEnglish:After the first blood sample, you drink a solution containing 75 grams of glucose dissolved in water.This is a measured glucose load—not a normal meal. 🪜 STEP 6 — Then you waitEnglish:After drinking the glucose solution, you wait for a specified period.For the standard adult test, the important measurement is usually the 2-hour blood glucose level. 🪜 STEP 7 — The 2-hour blood testEnglish:After 2 hours, another blood sample is taken.Now the laboratory checks:“How much glucose is still present in the blood?” 🪜 STEP 8 — How to understand the numbers?For non-pregnant adults, the standard 75-g OGTT 2-hour values are:🟢 Below 140 mg/dLNormal rangeবাংলা: 140 mg/dL-এর কম → সাধারণত Normal range🟡 140–199 mg/dLPrediabetes / Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT)বাংলা: 140–199 mg/dL → Prediabetes range🔴 200 mg/dL or higherDiabetes rangeবাংলা: 200 mg/dL বা বেশি → Diabetes range 🪜 STEP 9 — Simple examplesExample 12-hour OGTT = 125 mg/dL→ Normal range.বাংলা: 125 mg/dL → সাধারণত Normal range। Example 22-hour OGTT = 165 mg/dL→ Prediabetes range.বাংলা: 165 mg/dL → Prediabetes range। Example 32-hour OGTT = 215 mg/dL→ Diabetes range. 🪜 STEP 10 — Why does the number matter?English:Imagine glucose entering your bloodstream after a meal.Normally, your body should respond to that glucose and bring the level down over time.OGTT challenges the body with a standard glucose load and checks the response. 🪜 STEP 11 — OGTT vs FBS vs RBS vs HbA1cFBSEnglish: Fasting Sugarবাংলা: খালি পেটে Sugar কত?RBSEnglish: Random Sugarবাংলা: যেকোনো সময় Sugar কত?HbA1cEnglish: Longer-term Sugar pictureবাংলা: গত প্রায় ২–৩ মাসের Sugar-এর সামগ্রিক pictureOGTTEnglish: How your body handles a measured glucose loadবাংলা: নির্দিষ্ট glucose খাওয়ার পর শরীর Sugar কীভাবে সামলায়। 🪜 STEP 12 — What should you do during the test?English:During the waiting period, follow the laboratory's instructions.Usually, you should: - Remain at the testing location - Avoid eating - Avoid strenuous physical activity - Avoid smoking - Follow the laboratory's instructions 6️⃣ Check 2-hour Sugar<140 mg/dL → Normal range 140–199 mg/dL → Prediabetes range ≥200 mg/dL → Diabetes range 🎙️ One-Line TakeawayEnglish: “OGTT does not simply ask how much sugar you have; it checks how your body handles a controlled glucose load.” Medical note: These ranges are for non-pregnant adults using the standard 75-g OGTT. Pregnancy uses different OGTT protocols and thresholds.

🎙️ C-Peptide Test — Main Concept in /EL15Common-Man Step-by-Step Guide | English + বাংলা1. C-Peptide কী?English: C-peptide is a substance released by the pancreas when your body makes its own insulin. C-Peptide Test কী মাপে?English: This blood test measures the amount of C-peptide in your blood.It gives the doctor a clue about how much insulin your pancreas is producing naturally. 3. কেন এই Test করা হয়?English:Doctors may use C-peptide to help: - Understand how much insulin your pancreas is making. - Distinguish between different types or causes of diabetes. - Investigate unexplained low blood sugar. - Assess remaining insulin production. - Evaluate certain pancreatic conditions. 4. C-Peptide কম হলে কী বোঝাতে পারে?English: A low C-peptide level can mean that the pancreas is producing little natural insulin. 5. C-Peptide বেশি হলে কী বোঝাতে পারে?English: A higher C-peptide level generally means the pancreas is producing more insulin.This can occur when the body needs more insulin, such as with insulin resistance. 6. ExampleEnglish:Imagine insulin is a key.The cell is the door.Normally, one key may open the door.But with insulin resistance, the door becomes harder to open.The body may respond by making more keys—more insulin.More natural insulin production can mean more C-peptide. English: Injected insulin does not come with C-peptide.Therefore, C-peptide can help doctors understand how much insulin your own pancreas is producing. 8. Test-এর আগে কী করতে হয়?English: Preparation depends on why the test is being performed.Some C-peptide tests are fasting tests, while others may be performed after eating or stimulation.So follow your doctor/laboratory instructions rather than assuming that fasting is always required. 9. Result কীভাবে বুঝবেন?English:Don't look at C-peptide alone.Doctors may consider:C-peptide + Blood glucose + Symptoms + Medicines + Other testsবাংলা:শুধু C-peptide number দেখে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া উচিত নয়। 10. C-Peptide কি Diabetes Diagnose করে?English: No.C-peptide is not usually a standalone test for diagnosing diabetes.Tests such as HbA1c, fasting glucose, and other glucose tests are used to diagnose diabetes depending on the situation.C-peptide answers a different question:“How much insulin is my pancreas making?” C-peptide-এর মূল প্রশ্ন হলো:“আমার pancreas কতটা নিজের insulin তৈরি করছে?”🧠 30-Second Common-Man SummaryEnglish:C-peptide = clue about your body's own insulin production. - Low C-peptide → pancreas may be making little insulin. - Higher C-peptide → pancreas may be making more insulin. - Insulin resistance → the body may need more insulin. - Injected insulin → does not produce C-peptide. - C-peptide alone → does not diagnose diabetes. - Always interpret the result with blood glucose and your clinical situation. “C-Peptide tells us about the insulin-making activity of the pancreas.”

Below is the main concept of HbA1c, simplified into an EL15, step-by-step guide for the common person, in English + Bengali.HbA1c TEST — SIMPLE GUIDEHbA1c কী? Sugar PictureStep 1 — What is HbA1c?English: HbA1c is a blood test that shows your average blood sugar exposure over roughly the past 2–3 months. Recent weeks have a greater influence on the result. Step 2 — What does HbA1c mean?English: - Hb = Hemoglobin, a protein inside red blood cells. - Sugar in the blood can attach to hemoglobin. - More blood sugar → more sugar attaches to hemoglobin → higher HbA1c. Step 3 — Does HbA1c measure today's sugar?English: No. HbA1c is not a picture of today's blood sugar.Think like this:FBS → Today's fasting sugar picture HbA1c → Longer-term sugar pictureবাংলা: না। Step 4 — Do I need to fast?English: Usually, no fasting is required for an HbA1c test.You can generally have the test without waiting 8 hours. Step 5 — How is the test done?English: - A blood sample is taken. - The laboratory measures HbA1c. - The result is usually reported as a percentage (%). Step 6 — How to understand the numbers?For non-pregnant adults:HbA1cMeaningBelow 5.7%Normal range5.7%–6.4%Prediabetes range6.5% or higherDiabetes rangeবাংলা: - 5.7%-এর কম → সাধারণত Normal range - 5.7%–6.4% → Prediabetes range - 6.5% বা বেশি → Diabetes range Important: একটি abnormal result থাকলেই সব ক্ষেত্রে সঙ্গে সঙ্গে diabetes নিশ্চিত হয় না। Step 7 — Simple examplesExample 1HbA1c = 5.4%→ সাধারণত normal range. Example 2HbA1c = 6.0%→ Prediabetes range. Example 3HbA1c = 7.1%→ Diabetes range. Step 8 — Why is HbA1c useful?English: HbA1c helps us understand whether blood sugar has been consistently high over time. Step 9 — HbA1c vs FBSFBSEnglish: Fasting blood sugar → measures glucose after fasting. HbA1cEnglish: Shows longer-term glucose exposure. সহজে মনে রাখুন:FBS = এখন খালি পেটে Sugar কত?HbA1c = গত কয়েক মাসে Sugar কেমন ছিল?Step 10 — Does one meal change HbA1c?English: A single meal does not suddenly change your HbA1c in the same way it can change your blood glucose.HbA1c reflects a longer-term pattern. Step 11 — Important limitationEnglish: HbA1c may not give an accurate picture in some conditions that affect red blood cells or hemoglobin, such as certain types of anemia, hemoglobin disorders, recent blood loss or transfusion, and some kidney or liver conditions. STEP 12 — The easiest formulaEnglishHbA1c = Long-term blood sugar pictureবাংলাHbA1c = গত প্রায় ২–৩ মাসের Sugar-এর সামগ্রিক ছবিFINAL  QUICK SUMMARY 1. 2. Fasting usually not required. 3. It reflects roughly 2–3 months of glucose exposure. 4. Below 5.7% → normal range. → 5.7%-এর কম → normal range। 5. 5.7–6.4% → prediabetes range. → 5.7–6.4% → prediabetes range। 6. 6.5% or above → diabetes range. → 6.5% বা বেশি → diabetes range।7. One abnormal result may need confirmation.
