My scam pv-panels + battery + heatpump made me use 0 energy imported trough Hormuz today.
I know that the prices charged for HVAC seem insane sometimes, but the more I've dug into what's behind those prices to have a well run and sustainable company, the less room there is for reducing them.

Holy shit. This company claims it has developed an air-source heat pump with a COP of *7* (3-5 is considered good). For you non-nerds, that basically means it produces 7 units of heat for every unit of electricity it consumes. How are they doing it? You're not gonna like this answer, but: it's AI.

FYI: A heatpump is a reverse McDLT: instead of keeping hot and cold separate and then combining them, it takes combined hot and cold and makes them separate.

It would be quite nice if the Cheltenham @libdems.org.uk council in my town would allow me to fit an A2A heatpump in my all electric home in a tiny retirement community so at least one house of the 11 (with 4 over 90yr olds) had air con in which people could cool down @maxwilkinson.bsky.social

DIY solar/batteries/aircon/heatpump is doing its thing this evening. Mostly. It’s drawing 990 watts which is perilously close to the inverter’s limit. Hold me.
