what these people is essentially want is a chief executive of the global hegemon who does not involve himself in any of the prior actions of the global hegemon. a sort of protester-in-chief whose job is not to extricate that hegemon from its moral failures but to object to them.
I think it is important for people to understand that Obama was also evil and that at least some of why people reject that (albeit not all as Shaun’s post somewhat implies) is down to aesthetics.

Watching a global hegemon voluntarily surrender its position is extraordinary. A historical first.

China appears set to become the world's first clean tech hegemon, their global influence & domestic economy secured through a network of minerals, batteries, EVs, solar, wind & nuclear production & exports. Meanwhile, the US under Trump tries to hang on to its role as 20th century petro-hegemon. 🔌💡

Broke: China will be the new international hegemon.

Woke: The EU will be the new international hegemon.

Bespoke: The Syria-Ukraine alliance will be the new international hegemon.

toxic boyfriend ass hegemon lmao
Saudi Arabia is in big trouble, with their oil industry under attack from multiple directions.

The Saudis spent years bribing Trump and Kushner. At first, it seemed like a good investment. But the Iran war screwed them, now they really need help, and the US can't/won't.

Me, in @foreignpolicy.com:
Saudi Arabia Bribed the Wrong People
Riyadh’s bet on Trumpism has failed.

Normalizing assassinations of heads of state/government is not a particularly wise thing to do for the stronger hegemon facing asymmetric conflicts.

Ah shit they're saying our days as the global hegemon are over. I was really materially benefiting from that. :(

Regional hegemon that wanted this more than anything else: why would America do this to us
June 16, 2026 at 4:19 AM
so a thing about descending from being the global hegemon is that your regional relationships become more important

Hegemon behavior is apparently crying to the mods when people don't do what you tell them

i'm going to spend the rest of my life figuring out how a small band of elites decided that acting as the global currency and primary military hegemon was gay and feminine coded
BREAKING: Europe may begin selling U.S. assets in response to a new conflict with the US, a move that could trigger a dollar collapse, per Bloomberg.

"0-2 but it was close" type hegemon
The day that Biden grew so angry at Netanyahu that he nearly cut him off: "He was just completely fed up with everything and I think at that moment he was ready to just say, 'I’m done,'" Brett McGurk recalls as he releases "Brink," his memoir of Gaza war. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/u...

sometimes you genuinely have to wonder how America became a hegemon in the first place
I spent 45 minutes trying and failing to convince a full bird Colonel with multiple Afghanistan and Iraq deployments that Afghanistan is not an Arabic speaking country. I was helped in this discussion (to no avail) by two Afghan interpreters who were more polite than I was.
i am being absolutely serious here: CENTCOM had one job and it was literally to prepare for an Iran contingency
March 11, 2026 at 2:20 AM
there is something kind of hysterical about watching the global hegemon abandon its global hegemony simply because its current administration thinks the method of that hegemony is too gay
There we go. Executive order coming.

Trump administration will conduct a 6-month review of US participation in global institutions, including the IMF and World Bank - to see if they are „contrary to the interests of the US" or "can be reformed".

Project 2025 called for the US to pull out.
