In fairness, the Dragonborn is a cannibal who sold his soul to every single Daedric Prince at the same time and ended up Hermeus Mora’s bitch so we don’t have too much room to judge either.
The way things are set up in Skyrim, basically every outcome that doesn't involve the Dragonborn personally seizing power is terrible. They should really have owned it and given you the option to face down your own side after defeating the other.
