This week in #HighSchoolEnglish we’ve been coming in for a gentle semester landing with oral story-telling, Moth style.

Every day I’ve given a choice of prompts and students have 10 - 15 min to prepare their 2-5 minute story.

When the stage is trustfully set, the stories are tender little jewels.

Two years before Rabbi Rafael Grossman traveled to the USSR and met the little boy who became "Zev" in A VISIT TO MOSCOW, illustrated by Yevgenia Nayberg, he conducted a model Passover seder. The photograph of the model seder became an echo in the graphic novel.

Suddenly remembering how insane my freshman and sophomore English classes were because we had to read “where are the children?” Which was a suspense novel about a PDF and then 6 years later one of the teachers that had us read it got arrested for… PDF stuff. #reading #highschoolenglish
