Way back in dinosaur times when I was in my 20s, I saw an Oprah ep where a man (of course) made this grid of mom/homemaker tasks of 7 types that filled a whiteboard. Oprah: then she does one a day? Man: no do them all every day. Oprah had no no idea! (Also I thought Man was bonkers.)

I still remember people saying that you knew and remembered what you were doing on Sept 11th. For me I was 23 years old. At that time my father worked at the local college and my mom was a homemaker so she was home. We had a lot of TV channels but mom always asked to be left on CNN.

Homemaker Rosna Abdul Rahman, 70, learnt these tips on Sept 28 at the NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Care) in Bedok North during a newly launched nutrition programme. She is among 500 seniors from NTUC Health’s 27 Active Ageing Centres (AACs) that will participate in a pilot run of the Stay Strong programme, which uses gamification and creative storytelling to make healthy eating relatable, practical and actionable.

What bugs me is, nobody's stopping them from being a stay at home doormat, if that's what makes them happy. But what if they have a daughter that needs and wants more out of life? If you wish to be a homemaker that's fine but why slam the door for everyone else?
