I am pleased to see how more and more TV series and movies are going down the path of incorporating coercive control and legal entrapment through the family courts into their storylines.

Coercive control is a misunderstood and dangerous pattern. And it can affect anyone. And it kills. But it’s not always obvious and it can be very difficult to identify.Through our research where we looked at over 400 cases of intimate partner homicide, we were able to identify a recurring pattern of escalating risk and threat And we call this pattern – The Homicide Timeline The Women behind the changeProf Jane Monckton Smith who developed the Homicide Timeline frameworkBarrister Sarah Ellis who is forensic criminologist and host of Control and the Law podcast Forensic approachIt offers a forensic approach as it tracks rising risk and threat.Treating coercive control as the criminal pattern that it is and learning how and why controlling people behave in the ways that they do and why they be becoming more dangerous. We can change the way we change the way we think about domestic abuse, coercive control and stalkingWe can do better protecting victims. We can do better holding controlling people to account.#homicidetimeline #8stages #coercivecontrol #domesticabuse #intimatepartnerhomicide
