what this administration proposes is “what if hoovervilles were good, actually”
New: four million people could be forced to leave public housing and other federally assisted housing under new plans from the Trump administration, according to experts who reviewed drafts of two unpublished rules obtained by @propublica.org.

remember in school learning about the great depression and textbooks being like “things were so bad people lived in makeshift towns called hoovervilles, it was inhumane”

well, what if times now are like that but also they routinely destroyed the hoovervilles with bulldozers

Call them what they are. An import tax that disproportionately hits the poor, elderly, and disabled.

You want Hoovervilles? This is how you get Hoovervilles.

Enjoying every sentence in Shadow Ticket by Thomas Pynchon set in 1932.
There’s a lot of American slang.

Chapter 16 - … Union Station …
Rain in Chicago today, a downbeat hush. Yard bulls in slickers moving among the gaunt steel monsters, rain brightened rails, treacherous footing.

we're just on the cusp of "Hoovervilles".
Media needs to be covering this every day.

What can you do to help? Donate to your local food bank. There are food banks in just about every community in the country, and now they are being used by federal workers who normally have jobs, but are furloughed because of the shutdown.
Families are already hanging by a thread, but the sad truth is it’s about to get a lot worse when SNAP benefits don’t go out in November.

It’s time to find our local food banks and help out with donations and volunteer hours if you are able.
