Metrolinx actually did the same thing with the HuLRT at Port Credit GO.
Provided HuLRT can perform better than Finch West, which is a big IF.
Also, an LRT would not link it into the Toronto rapid transit network as well as a subway extension. Line 5 taking over the Transitway towards Square One is an option but that does limit Line 5’s capacity on an airport branch.
