Nice start to the year locally, with at least 2 Siberian Chiffchaff amongst 10+ Common Chiffs and a couple of intergrades at Hunmanby Water Treatment Works. By far the most Chiffs I've ever had in winter there. This was followed by a brutally cold seawatch at Flamborough that produced a Med Gull.

The Dung Beetle Geotrupes spiniger flies at night in summer and is attracted to garden lights. I found this one on my patio so put it on a table and took this picture. Hunmanby, North Yorkshire.

Pied Hovefly Scaeva pyrastri. Easy to ID, black body & white markings, 10-12mm winglength. Widespread in UK, seen in Summer. Hovers over flowers while feeding. I see it regularly in my garden in Hunmanby.
