16 Feb 1917, the Lady Ann was torpedoed off Scarborough, sinking in 3 minutes. Fred Chater & Walter Gunn were buried at Dean Road Cemetery—an error led to Gunn being listed on the Tower Hill Memorial as "missing". Thanks to researcher Fred Fox, CWGC placed a headstone over Gunn’s grave. #WW1

On Wednesday I visited the graves of 2 sailors killed in the sinking of the Lady Ann. I've uploaded the photos of the graves. I'll undertake some further research & I'll post at a later date. But for now, read about the loss of the Lady Ann, whose wreck is now owned by the Scarborough Sub Aqua Club.

Heading to the British Society of Sports History conference at Edinburgh.
I’m giving a paper on The Hull Handball League. Founded by a German Jewish GP who fled the Kristallnacht and a Dutch submariner.
It lasted 6 years, but it had two divisions, a junior section and played international games.
