intubated during the arrest, had intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) placed & came to the ICU extubated / with IABP / still on pressors, has the ICU team (as primary service) and Cardiology signed-off as soon as the balloon pump was removed...

We also use helium in intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP).
Each IABP tank holds 495 ml at 200 bar, equivalent to ~1000 liters at STP.
1 cu foot = 28 L
That means we’d “only” need about 560 of those little IABP helium tanks to fill up the largest parade float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade.

Great points, I really see IABP as a mechanical afterload reductor (great effect in dilated LVs and especially in dynamic mitral regurgitations), the benefit in increased DAP is more theoretical than real I think
